Computer Ethics / Internet Safety
To provide students with the insights necessary to make safe and ethical decisions when using the internet.
The Student will be able to:
- Initiate a discussion with their parents in developing guidelines for internet use
- Define the term Computer Virus
- Explain the importance of keeping their identity private on the internet
- Explain the downfalls of sharing passwords
- Explain that a person looses control of any materials posted on the internet
- Explain that Posting Information on the internet is never really private
- Explain that you only choose people for your friend lists if you personally know them
- Explain hat it can be dangerous talking to people you don’t know over the internet
- Explain that on-line predators often know exactly what they are saying and how they are saying it.
- Define cyberbullying.
- List three types of cyberbullying
- List three things they need to do to stop cyberbullying
- Explain they will never meet a person face-to-face that they only have met on-line, unless they tell their parents.
- Define the term Copyright.
- Define, in respect to copyright, the term Pirate.
- Define the term Hacker
- Explain what Identity Theft is.
- List two things that can happen if your identity is stolen
- Define the term Plagiarism

4. Internet Explorer or Safari Software 5. Use of the World Wide Web to provide resources for the identification and collection of instructional resources. 6.Dittos and Worksheets 8.Hands-On, Project based instructional activities.

Techniques used to evaluate student progress: Homework, Oral Questioning, Classwork (written), Worksheets, Quiz's, Test, Project based instructional activities
