Through the 80's and 90's the hopes of technology dramatically impacting the way our children would learn never quite meet the expectations of our educational pundits. Ten years ago, with the advent of the World Wide Web, everything as we know it changed. By last statistics there are more pages of information on the World Wide Web than there are human beings on this planet. I'm convinced this is only the beginning of the impact on our schools and our entire way of life.

In this unit it is important to understand the beginnings and structure associated with the Internet. The most important topics in this unit pertain to using search engines to find information on the world wide web.

It all comes down this, the Internet can provide you with answers to almost any question you have. The trick is, understanding how to ask the right questions in the right way. You do this by understanding how search engines work.
