When you need to create a word processing document, the functions in the file menu will provide the following functions:

  • NEW - Use this menu item to create a new word processing document
  • OPEN- Use this menu item to retrieve a document, that you typed previously, from your disk.
  • SAVE- Use this menu item to store your word processing document on disk
  • SAVE AS- Use this menu item to store your word processing document to disk. This function always allows you to change the file name of the document before you save it.
  • SAVE AS HTML- This is used if you want to save your word-processing document as a webpage.
  • PAGE SETUP- This function provides you the ability to change the orientation of a document, Landscape or Portrait, as well as margins and other page attributes.
  • PRINT PREVIEW- This function allows you to see what your document will look like after it's printed.
  • PRINT- Use this menu item to produce a paper copy of your word processing document.
