To provide students with the step by step procedure used to write a simple research report. To provide students with the insights necessary to use information found on the internet and a basic understanding of wordprocessing to create a research report.

Each student will be able to:

  1. Given a list of 60 inventions, select two inventions to research.
  2. Using an Internet search engine, find information pertaining to each invention
  3. Having found information about an invention, evaluate the information to determine if it will be appropriate for the report
  4. Print pertinent information from the Internet pertaining to the invention researched.
  5. Using the the who, what, where, why sheet, fill out pertinent information on the sheet.
  6. Using the information printed out and a pencil/pen and paper, write a rough draft of the report on each invention
  7. After the rough draft has been approved, type the rough draft using a word-processing program.
  8. As the student is is typing their rough draft, they will create a document with the standard school heading for writing
  9. Use the word-processing program to justify text, indent, add text attributes, fonts and different text sizes in the creation of their report.
  10. Perform the following word-processing functions:
    • Start a word processing software
    • Create a new word processing document.
    • Edit a word processed document
    • Print a word processed document
    • Save a word processed document to disk
