My goal
with this website is to provide a comprehensive resource for
my students and parents, on the topics I address in my 6th Grade
Technology class. Over the 20 weeks that the 6th graders are
with me, my intent is to enable them with the skills, technique
and understandings that will enable them in middle and high
school.
You have
to put in perspective my journey to this point. This is my 30th
year of teaching. The first computer that I touched ran on punched
cards. The first personal computer was created four years after
I started teaching.
Through
the 80's and 90's the hopes of technology dramatically impacting
the way our children would learn never quite meet the expectations
of our educational pundits. Ten years ago, with the advent of
the World Wide Web, everything as we know it changed. By last
statistics there are more pages of information on the World
Wide Web than there are human beings on this planet. It must
also be noted, that the impact on our current kindergarten class
is this; the jobs that they will pursue and the technology that
they will use, have not been invented yet. So how can we as
parents and teachers prepare our children for the future? The
only way we can accomplish that is to change the way children
learn. That in small part, is what this website is all about.
A Web-Centered approach to teaching.
My thanks
to Ms. Jessica Ruth for her editing and contributions to this
site.
All materials
that I have created are free for use by other educators at any
level. All that I ask is a link back to my site. This is done
in the sense of what education is all about.
Thank You
For Visiting,
